VLC, the world’s most popular computer media player, recently got a humongous update with 1500 bug fixes and a bunch of new features. The third big version of VideoLans hit software is called ‘Vetinari’ and is available for download on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Android TV, Apple TV and Chrome OS devices.
The news of VLC’s latest update first came all the way back in 2015 when it was announced that it will be Google Chromecast supported. VLC sure did take their sweet time with this update!
Some of Vetinari’s new and exclusive features include HDR video support (currently only on Windows 10), support for 360-degree video with 3D audio as well as 8K content, the ability to browse network drives, support for HiDPI on Windows 10, Chromecast functionality and much more. Chromecast’s will enable you to stream content, even in formats that aren’t featured in Google’s devices such as DVD.
Finally, Smart TV and phone users can use the Vetinari on their device’s app store. VLC media player’s large array of bug fixes will not only guarantee seamless playback but also fixes the heavily criticized flaw of the software randomly closing whilst your favorite movie or TV show is playing.
