Obviously, the latest iPhone X is the phone everyone wants, but there’s no denying the fact: it’s pricey, starting at $999.
It’s indeed the most advanced iPhone Apple’s ever created, but not everyone can afford to spend their savings this much at once. So, what else can a person do? Settle for the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus?
Well, that doesn’t sound as bad as it sounds.
We agree that the iPhone 8’s body already looks old compared to the iPhone X, but we know that looks aren’t everything, and there are many other things that make a thing standout.
The iPhone X is Apple’s new incredible device, but it’s definitely not gonna be for everyone. And with supply constraints and a release not until Nov. 3, not everyone’s gonna be able to get one. So why wait when there’s plenty of great reasons to buy the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus instead?
1. If you want to save your money
The most obvious reason to buy the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus instead is because you can’t afford the latest iPhone X.
The iPhone 8 starts at $699 and $849 for 64GB and 256GB, respectively. And the 8 Plus costs $799 and $949 for 64GB and 256GB. In comparison, the iPhone X costs $999 for 64GB and $1,149 for 256GB.
2. If you can’t let go of home button
We know now the future of the iPhone is buttonless, like the headphone jack, it’s never coming back.
Either accept that or get another brand. Or if you are the Apple fan, you can consider the other two models recently launched: iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
Keep in mind, though, that both handsets have a Taptic Engine-powered fake button that vibrates when you press it. It’s not a mechanical one like on the iPhone 6S.
3. If you want a fingerprint sensor
Whatever your reason is, if you just want a fingerprint sensor, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have it and the X doesn’t.
4. If the “notch” is not your thing
The company says the iPhone X sports “all screen.” However, technically, it’s not true. The notch at te top includes the TrueDepth camera setup, which contains both the FaceTime camera and an IR sensor for facial recognition. It also disqualifies the phone as a true all-screen device.
People have given mixed reactions to it. Some are fine while others hate it. Apple’s iOS guidelines ask developers to embrace the “horns” to the left and right of the notch when optimizing their apps for the iPhone X.
If you hate the notch, you’ll be happy to know that iPhone 8 and 8 Plus don’t have a notch. They do feature thicker bezels, but no cutout.
5. If it is the reachability you care about
If we talk about the body of the iPhone X isn’t much bigger than the iPhone 8.
If reachability is your concern, go for iPhone 8, which itself is one of the last “small” smartphones.
Reachability is unquestionably a concern with the iPhone X, it’s impossible to reach the top corners of the display with one hand unless you have big hands.
6. If you want wireless charging
The iPhone X has built-in wireless charging that supports a Qi-based charging pad. But you can’t just buy it for that feature.
In fact, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have the same wireless charging, and also the same fast wireless charging that charges up the phones from 0-50 percent in 30 minutes. However, yes, you have to buy your own wireless charging pad. But that’s just fine, isn’t it?
7. If you fancy better cameras
Both the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus come with better and enhanced12-megapixel cameras that take better photos and videos. And what’s more, on the 8 Plus, you get the iPhone X’s same Portrait Lighting mode.
8. If you want the performance of the X
Perhaps, the best thing about the 8 and 8 Plus is that they have the same powerful A11 Bionic chip as the iPhone X.
