Andy Rubin in Action!
On Tuesday, Andy Rubin disclosed the main smart phone from Essential, his new company. The PH-1 is an Android gadget that packs some intriguing features and unmistakably is expected to clash with the top smartphones from Apple and Samsung.
The main thing you see in photographs of the top of the line gadget is the screen: It takes up practically the whole front face, going so near the edge it bends around the selfie camera.
Another striking component: It’s modular. It has attractive connectors on the back of the gadget that let you attach extras, including a 360-degree camera that can be ordered together with the phone.
To reserve the phone it costs $749 with 128 GB of internal storage together with the 360- degree camera. Excluding the accessories, it will cost $699. For the time being it is available only in US.
In addition to 128 GB, it gives 4 GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Its casing is titanium and ceramics and comes in 4 colors – Black moon, Stellar Grey, Pure White, and Ocean Depths.
The screen is a robust 5.7 inches — much bigger than the 5.5-inch screen on the iPhone 7 plus — yet the relative absence of bezels on it implies it has a littler impression than you’d anticipate. The back camera is 13 megapixels, while the front-confronting camera is 8 megapixels. Both shoot 4K video.
The new Android phone has accepted the challenge head on and now approaching the customers who buy Samusung and Apple gadgets. It even thinks about itself specifically when indicating how its titanium body can withstand a drop test. The question being whether it can control it.
