The release of e-cigarettes introduced a potential idea that cigarettes could now be consumed without being too harmful. The public had almost already developed the idea in their heads that electronic cigarettes could be a safer alternative.
However, a new study has revealed that using electronic cigarettes still impose the chances of cancer in humans. This study was conducted by the researchers at New York University School of Medicine. This study mainly concluded with the idea that consumption of nicotine even through electronic cigarettes is equally harmful for humans.
This was found out by a research based on a number of laboratory tests which were performed on mice. They were primarily exposed to 10 years equivalent worth of nicotine smoke. From this study along with other research, the researchers found out that they suffered from higher DNA damages in their heart, lungs, and bladder.
E-cigarette smoking is also proven to damage the DNA repair mechanism in humans. This causes a higher chance of spreading of cancerous cells in the body.
