Asia Cup 2018 shifted from India to UAE on Pakistan’s request

According to the latest news, on Tuesday Pakistan submitted a request to the Asian Cricket Council against playing in India for which, ACC has decided to shift the Asia Cup 2018 to the United Arab Emirates.

The annual session of the ACC was chaired by its president and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi where the decision was taken after Pakistan objected to playing in India.

Sports news also revealed that Najam Sethi also attended the session which decided the five full members of ACC. Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are the chosen members and would be automatically qualifying to play in the tournament. Whereas other nations that include Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman and a few others would play the qualifiers for the sixth slot.

The meeting also decided that ACC Emerging Teams Cup 2018 would be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka this year.

The 14th edition of the tournament of The Asia Cup will take place between September 13 to 28, 2018. India will be playing as the defending champion.

Due to the disturbed relations between the neighboring nations, India and Pakistan have not played any series since January 2013 except for the matches in ICC tournaments.

We wish Pakistani team the best of luck for the upcoming Asia Cup.
