Now career is an important aspect for students who are pursuing business studies and most of the students are related to some profession or going to be a part of professional life. Many questions arises in the mind of business students during their studies that what they are pursuing will going to have any impact on their career? The increasing globalization, new innovations, technological developments, new market trends, competition etc. have also change the way organizations were working before. Similarly these factors also change the curriculum of colleges, and universities so that they can produce graduates according to the current need of the business world. Now the process of recruiting human services has also changed notably over the years and still continues to evolve. We know employees are valuable asset to any organization and employers while hiring these assets are now looking for more educated candidates in sense of having strong skills, performance and broad knowledge of business organizations. They are looking for employees who have leadership traits, strong interpersonal skills, team players and more confident while dealing with individuals in workplace environment. They are looking for those candidates who proved to be effective and efficient while performing organizational activities. In this entire context business universities are playing a pivotal role to cater these needs. Many business universities have hired business practitioners to teach different business courses. The curriculum of business studies i.e. marketing, communication, management, human resources, accounting etc. helps to provide learning skills as well as practical skills also. These courses help to shape up a candidate according to the currents needs of organization because every organization needs these types of candidates who have all these skills. The students who gains knowledge through extracurricular activities and hands-on skills such as group projects, assignments, surveys during their business studies will allow them to start contributing their services to employer’s organization quickly and effectively according to the employer’s need. These business studies are also providing specialization courses so that students who want to pursue their career in specific field can learn through specialized courses i.e. Marketing, Finance, Human Resources etc. Currently there are top 15 HEC recognized
business universities across Pakistan which are producing business graduates, masters, MPhil, PhD’s to fulfill the requirements of businesses and organizations operating in Pakistan as well as these studies are helping in achieving career. These universities are offering following degree programs:

B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce):
B. Com is a bachelor level course to study the basic principles and processes of a business or an organization. B. Com in business studies is designed to teach the students about the various aspects of a business. The aim of this bachelor program is to develop basic managerial skills and to provide in depth knowledge of business activities.After doing B. Com in business study one can get an entry or intermediate level job in any of the business organization and firm. The job prospects increases much higher if one go for the master’s degree in Business Studies. B.Com degree is conferred after two years.

BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration):
BBA program organizes the courses in such a way that students learn basic business concepts and principles, get hands-on experiences in projects and apply both theory and logic to problem solving. BBA is a professional degree program expose students to a variety of “core subjects” providing conceptual knowledge and an in-depth exposure to functional areas in business management including accounting, marketing, finance, management, entrepreneurship along with special emphasis on leadership, social awareness, creativity, innovation, and decision making capability. The program helps to develop skills for interpersonal communication, team work, foreign languages and managing diversity.BBA degree is conferred after four years of full-time study in one or more areas of specific concentrations.

MBA (Master of Business Administration):
MBA is one of the most popular and recognized postgraduate qualifications in general business management. It is designed to develop the skills required for careers in business and management.
The value of the MBA, however, is not limited strictly to the business world. An MBA can also be useful for those pursuing a managerial career in the public sector, government, private industry, and other areas. MBA programs include a “core” curriculum of subjects, such as accounting, economics, marketing, and operations, as well as elective courses that allow participants to follow their own personal or professional interests. The diverse structure of this higher-level program reflects the strong integration of the University and the corporate sector, where every single course has been shaped and reshaped to cater for the present and future business needs. It offers considerable options to students, thereby adequately preparing them for a variety of careers. The specialization courses in MBA allow students to focus on the functional areas of their choice and seek broader knowledge in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Banking etc. The MBA graduates are well prepared to deal effectively with complex and ever-changing business environment .MBA degree is conferred after two to four years of full-time study depending upon the program.

MPhil (Master of Philosophy):
MPhil is the most advanced research degree before the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) The MPhil program in Business Management is designed to meet the challenges of the business world and the growing demand for well-qualified and research oriented scholars in Pakistan. This program has been carefully designed in response to the traditional and emerging trends and to meet the growing market demand for various specialist areas in business management.The aim of MPhil program is to develop individuals who wish to pursue a research-oriented professional career in academic or business world.

PhD (Doctor of Philosophy):
PhD research program in business management is to pursue leading-edge research, engage in the development of innovative ideas and analytical skills, and encourage both faculty and students to be independent and creative thinkers. The outcome of this research program is the production of a real and measurable impact on society and industry through quality research published in impact factor
journals and recognized by the industry. The objective of Ph.D. is to encourage the research process in Pakistan and also to provide a quality research work. This will bridge the gap between educational institutes and the industry. The research of the students will help the industry in improving their work, as well as help the service industry in increasing the quality of their employees. And to generate vast thoughts to overcome the current crisis faced by the country

Many authors have proposed different theories, articles on the subject and most of those have proved a positive relation between business studies and career.

Perceived effects of an MBA degree on employability and career advancement
Analyzing business graduates’ perceptions and attitudes, the findings indicate that MBA studies have a positive effect on skills, employability and compensation and a much moderate effect on career advancement. (Mihail and Antigoni, 2006)

Preparing Graduates for the Workforce: The Role of Business Education

Internships and projects provide a “real-world” experience and help students learn to think and solve problems and develop their communication skills, which are all critical components of an education. Experience also helps students grasp the importance of dependability and initiative. “Hands-on” learning experiences combined with the academic skills that students learn in the classroom help to provide business school graduates with a competitive advantage in the workplace. (Raymond, McNabb and Matthaei, 2010)
However, the results of the findings indicated that business studies create knowledge and skills that in turn impact on career. The study states that there is significant and positive effect of business studies.
