The much-awaited Google Pixel is already out on the market, and despite some issues, it is certainly an impressive smartphone with the best camera ever. It does, however, leave some things to be desired, falling short of the iPhone-esque revolution we’d been wanting bad.
Hope is still there, especially with the launch of the Google Pixel 3 around the corner. If Google wants to overtake the upcoming iPhone handset or the existing iPhone X, it’ll need to take care of a few things in its Pixel 2. With that in mind, here are some features, fixes and specs we would like to see in the Google Pixel 3.
1. A cheaper price
Many years ago, Google made some really impressive, affordable smartphones. The Pixel series can’t be counted in this counted in this category, with the company offering high-end smartphones at the expense of its affordable, though less impressive, equivalent. If Google wants to overtake Apple and Samsung’s smartphone designs, it’ll need to reduce the cost of the Pixel 3 when it comes to market.
2. Bring back the jack
Google jumped on the bandwagon with its Google Pixel 2. Users now have to make use of a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter or invest some in Bluetooth headphones. It’s certainly not an appealing prospect. If Google wants to stand out among such strong rivals, it needs to bring back the headphone jack.
3. Cutting edge specifications
The Pixel was powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. That’s not bad –the 835 powers some of the best smartphones of this year – but if Google wants to be the star, it would be better to be a step ahead of its rivals.
4. Better battery life
With the screen at 170cd/m² brightness and Flight mode switched on, the Pixel 2 lasted 14hrs 17mins in a battery test. Well, that’s slightly behind last year’s Pixel. We all know that battery is the most important factor nowadays, and the Pixel 3 should be the same or better than the Pixel 2.
5. A more interesting design
The Pixel 2 is certainly an impressive phone. But there’s nothing creative or revolutionary about it. Strong competitors such as the Samsung S8, which features a beautiful bezel-less display, or the iPhone 8, which does look stunning, are leagues ahead of the Google Pixel 2.
