According to a report by IRNA news agency, the two-way route will be launched on 18th next month, which could help strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
The report additionally said Mahan Airplanes would commute between Tehran and Lahore twice a week — Mondays and Thursdays.
At this moment, there is only one direct route to Lahore from Mashhad. The plane flies through this route once every week and is operated by Iran’s Taban Air.
Mahan Air is also planning to launch its own route between the two cities. The company has already conducted a test flight, IRNA added in its report.
The city is considered holy, and a large number of people from Pakistan visit Iran for tourism and religious purposes, as it holds great significance in the Islamic world.
