New Zealand Whitewash Pakistan After a Thrilling Win in Wellington

In the fifth and last ODI match of the series, Black Caps beat Pakistan by 15 runs. New Zealand had set a target of 272 with Pakistan all out for 256 with one over remaining.

It is only third time Pakistan team has been whitewashed in an ODI series of five matches. While it was a second 5-match ODI whitewash for the Kiwis.

Among key performances, Martin Guptill’s century and Henry’s four-wicket haul stand out. After Pakistan was slumped to 57-5, Haris Sohail and Shadab Khan combined for a 105 run partnership that made the chase look easier but New Zealand’s bowling attack regained its form and the next players could not stand for long.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, Pakistan’s Captain said his batsmen failed at giving their best.

“The main thing is the batting has not clicked throughout the whole series, that’s why we lost,”, said Sarfaraz.

“The bowling unit was very good sometimes. We had opportunities but we didn’t grab them,” he added.
