A new Xperia leak suggests that Sony’s next-gen Xperia handsets may feature dual rear camera setup. According to the report by PhoneArena, leaks in a Reddit post includes specifications of the reported Sony handset, which is said to be a successor to the Xperia XZ Premium. The upcoming handset is also said to feature a 15MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Like other smartphones scheduled for 2018, Sony’s next-gen smartphone will be powered by the latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage capacity, claims the leaked image. The upcoming Sony handset will run the latest Android 8.0 and will feature a 5.48-inch FHD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. As per the leaks, Sony’s new phone won’t feature a bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio, though it was reported earlier Sony had indicated it will go for a design change with flagships.
Sony India managing director Kenichiro Hibi earlier told indianexpress.com that the company’s next-generation flagship will sport an all-new design language, which was seen as an indicator that the company will adopt the 18:9 aspect ratio. But if we see leaked specifications, this smartphone might not feature such a display. Other specifications revealed in the leaked images are 3130 mAh battery, support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology and IP65/68 rating for water and dust-resistance.
The company had last introduced the Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus in India in October this year. The smartphones run on Snapdragon 430 chipset, sport a 13MP primary camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. The company earlier stated that it will be targeting premium segment with its next smartphones. What do you think the price will be?
