Motorcycle girl is a movie based on Zenith Irfan, the first Pakistani woman to have made a solo journey through the country’s north, to fulfil her father’s dream. Motorcycle Girl will be released across Pakistan on 20th April, 2018.
The writer and director of the movie, Adnan Sarwar, is all set to release his second feature film after his first biopic Shah, released in 2015, based on the story of Pakistani Olympian boxer Syed Hussain Shah. This is the second Pakistani movie after Hareem Farooq’s Parchi that shows a female actor taking the lead.
The movie is based on the stereotype-breaking motorcycle journeys of Zenith who, at a young age of 20 years, became the first Pakistani woman to have made a solo motorcycle journey through the northern regions of the country.
Who’s Playing Zenith?
Sohai Ali Abro is playing Zenith and the first poster of Sohai’s look was revealed earlier in March. Directed by Adnan Sarwar, the film will also star other big names such as Sarmad Khoosat and Samina Peerzada.
Zenith’s been busy breaking stereotypes and during the past two years, she’s done a great deal of travelling across the Azad Kashmir region as well as Chitral and other Northern areas of Pakistan. She is the only Pakistani girl that had ventured to the northern areas on a bike where local women are not allowed to go out unaccompanied and follow a conservation lifestyle.
The girl is fierce and not afraid of road accidents which could kill her. According to Irfan, death could come to her even within the safe confines of her house. You go, girl!
Irfan knew the dangers of being recognised as a female traveller, hence she hid identity in helmet, boots and a jacket and threw away women’s clothes while travelling.
The two-minute trailer starts with disinterested Sohai being set up on a date for an arranged marriage with a random guy, played by Ali Kazmi. The trailer has already blown away our mind and we can’t wait for the movie to release. All the best to the whole team of Motorcycle Girl.
