It’s been not even six months since OPPO released its R11, but the Chinese manufacturer doesn’t seem to rest, as the maker behind the iPhone lookalike is already releasing an updated model called the R11s and a bigger R11s Plus.

But isn’t just a simple update, as the latest R11s and R11s+ sport huge displays — 6-inch and 6.43-inch respectively, both in an 18:9 ratio.

The devices feature rear dual-cameras of 20-megapixels and 16-megapixels and a 20MP shooter powered by AI.

Unlike other devices with dual cameras, OPPO says both of its F1.7 rear cameras are able of taking pictures, not just using one camera (with the other being a monochrome or telephoto lens). The company says this will shoot pictures much better, as the phone will select the best camera for the shoot.

Though it seems to be an interesting technique, we will have to see how it comes out in reality. Other photography-related features include an AI-powered selfie front camera, which the company claims to deliver you the best beauty shots.

Unfortunately, the 5x zoom feature, announced earlier this year at MWC, isn’t yet on the phone. Also, another thing missing is Type-C USB. The phone still uses the old micro-USB, because Type-C cables aren’t that common right now and the company wants convenience for you. However, the good news here is that the device has an audio jack.

Well, honestly, though the R11s is a really good phone, it has many things similar to Apple’s.  Not only the camera app, the faux-control center and the user interface but the device also comes with a feature to hide the navigation buttons with gesture controls similar to the flagship X.

Well, the target audience of the company are definitely those who want an iPhone experience but can’t or doesn’t want to pay a premium price for it.

The phone will be available in China this month, followed by Taiwan and Singapore soon, with Australia to follow next year. The R11s will be available for 2,999 Chinese yuan, which converts to about $455, £345 and AU$590 respectively, while the larger R11s Plus will retail for 3,699 Chinese yuan, or $560, £425 and AU$730.
