Radia being one of the most powerful modes of communication has changed our life in a number of ways. It has brought colors to our life majorly. From the high school students who once used to listen to all the late night shows, to men whose only source of information to get cricket updates was radio and the women who loved listening to on-air cooking tips, Radio has played a memorable part in everyone’s life.
Yesterday, on 13th Feb, the world celebrated Radio day with full zeal and excitement. Pakistan too observed this day with the theme ‘Radio and Sports’. The day was commenced with a two hour seminar organized by the News and Current Affairs Channel of Radio Pakistan in Islamabad.
The Country Representative of UNESCO Vibeke Jenson who was also present at this seminar, stated that the objective of this day was to spread wakefulness among the people about the magnitude of radio for promotion of sports activities. She further said that radio holds the power of reaching out to the most remote areas of the country in order to take information to the people.
The Director General Radio Pakistan Shafqat Jalil who was also present at this event said that Radio Pakistan brought harmony and peace in the country through its programmes.
