Every now and then, a person needs more than one SIM. Maybe you’re putting up a separate business, maybe you’re moving abroad or probably you just need separate networks to talk to people.
In either way, two is definitely better than one. But if your phone didn’t have a portal for another SIM, you were out of luck.
However, Apple has now made it possible for owners of an iPhone XR, iPhone XS, or iPhone XS Max to add the second line of service by using an eSIM, excluding the need for a physical SIM card.
This will let you add a local carrier if you travel internationally, one for voice and messages and one for data.
One thing you have to keep in mind is that this is not a free service. You have to purchase a second line. With all the expenses that go with it.
The first thing you need to do is, you will need to purchase a new eSIM account. You’re going to need your device’s IMEI number.
Once you’ve purchased the eSIM plan, you will then set up the eSIM.
You will then go to Settings, Cellular, and Add Cellular Plan. Scan the QR code from your carrier with your phone. Then look at the bottom of your screen, and tap Enter Details Manually. Select Add Cellular Plan and you’ll see both your previous plan and the new plan; you can label them. Hit Done, and on the next screen choose which line you want to be your default.
And both of your numbers can be active at the same time! How great is that!
