Pokemon Go is up with an interesting goal for Earth Day. Let’s see how it goes!
The developer of the famous Pokemon Go, Niantic announced yesterday that they will be starting a campaign by using their game which will give rewards to the players if they pick up garbage from the streets on the 22nd of April to celebrate Earth Day.
Niantic further said that they have partnered up with many non-governmental organizations for this day to get majority of the streets in the world cleaned by the players of Pokemon Go.
The idea is not to clean the streets alone. The players will have to gather in a public area, like a garden or a famous street and work together to clean their cities. The more they participate, the more rewards they get for the game. This small motive by Pokemon Go may guide people all around the world to something productive on the Earth Day.
Niantic said that “At Niantic, we believe in taking care of the planet and we invite everyone to help us make the world a cleaner place. Caring for waterways and oceans through organizations like Mission Blue will help us all live better lives. Hosted by local nonprofits, these cleanup events will involve picking up trash and cleaning natural areas alongside other Trainers and local community members, so join us as we look to host the most coordinated cleanups in a 48-hour period!”
Niantic has by far listed 37 events on their official website for cleaning up on different locations in 12 countries located in Asia, Europe, North America. Also, it has teamed up with not one, but 10 different NGOs for Earth Day. Will there be more in the list? We don’t know yet.
The CEO of Niantic, John Hanke said in a statement “Earth Day is an incredible movement and opportunity to team up with friends and neighbors to focus on making the world and our own communities healthy and sustainable,”
