After a year of anticipation Pakistan’s very own league tournament Pakistan Super League is back with a bang! The league which will be officially launched on Thursday is set to create a massive wave of enthusiasm all across the country.
This year marks the third edition of PSL adding a 6th team and more international stars with the hope to have the entire tournament be played in Pakistan in 2019. The addition of the most expensive team after Karachi Kings, ‘Multan Sultans’ and the confirmation of many International big names such has Brendon McCullum and Shane Watson has increased the eagerness of fans as well as the participating players.
One of the key differences in this year’s tournament with the previous years is that this year, three final matches are to be played in the Pakistani grounds with the final to be played in Karachi on 25th of December. The venue of the final being Karachi is in itself a great big reason for us to celebrate as Pakistan has been deprived of International cricket for more than 9 years and Karachi has always been in limelight for all the wrong reasons. Many International teams previously turned down the invitations by PCB to play in Pakistan specifically in Karachi. But after much hard work by the board and by convincing that they will successfully provide top notch security standards in Karachi for the players, this great achievement is finally unlocked.
The security arrangements in the two cities have been praised by many International stars on their recent visits to these cities. Ravi Bhopara praised Karachi when he visited the city of lights for the launch of his team.
After such accomplishments in PSL, the Pakistanis are very much hopeful for the entire tournament to be set at home. The management is well aware of this dream of their country and hence the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najam Sethi is very optimistic that he will be successful in bringing the 4th edition in 2019 entirely in Pakistan. He is very positive that all the participating International players will be playing in the grounds of our very own cities among the chants of local fans and we cannot wait for it to happen.
