2017 was the year they were talking about when they said ‘someday sports in Pakistan will flourish like never before’. Like seriously, What a year! From cricket to football, this year bagged multiple memories with so many achievements which are surely going to be talked about for the rest of our lives. The spectacular progression of cricket and the revival of international sports event were the main highlights of the year.

The year definitely didn’t have a happy start in terms of cricket. Pakistan lost to Australia in ODI by 4-1 but somehow managed to save itself from the disqualification for the World Cup 2019.

We are the reigning Champions!

Under Sarfraz’s captaincy, the cornered tigers came back with a bang of Champions Trophy and successfully secured the ‘Champions’ title when it was least expected of them. That too against India, which triggered great celebrations all across the country.

PSL came home!

Before Champions trophy, the astounding commemoration of PSL stunned the world. This was a great attainment for Pakistan as it was deprived of International cricket for more than 8 years.

Oh, the world xi! It was a remarkable achievement.

Our boxer outperformed

Boxing too was pretty much a hit show in 2017. Boxer Muhammad Waseem defended his WBC Silver Flyweight title and successfully retained it with a brilliant win over his contemporary.

‘Ronaldinho and friends’ came to Pakistan

Amidst all the great things happening to Pakistani sports, one of the highlights includes the visit by Ronaldinho and friends. The enormity and the value of this event cannot be overlooked as it gave Pakistani football enthusiasts a closer glimpse of the International level game.

We bagged Gold and Silver medals in Asian Indoor Games

And last but unquestionably not the least, the fantastic performance of our players in indoors and martial arts games won us about 21 medals in Asian Indoor Games and did us proud.

Let’s just hope and pray to have 2018 as fruitful and successful as last year.
