Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi arrived Kabul today (06-03-2018) for a day-long visit. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has invited Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on a state visit to discuss economic and security issues. PM Khaqan Abbasi received the guard of honor as soon as he arrived Kabul.
According to the latest news, the PM is visiting Afghanistan to discuss inter-peace harmony, regional politics and terrorism control. Combating drug issues, getting the Afghan refugees back and putting a full stop to Narcotics trade will be some of the issues discussed during the meeting. Khaqan Abbasi will also meet Afghan Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.
A day before the PM’s visit, Foreign Office Spokesman DR Faisal tweeted on Thursday that all allegations of the Afghan airstrike on Pakistan are false and our security forces are undertaking counter-terrorism operations in Bajaur agency directed against terrorists who continue to attack Pakistan from their sanctuaries based on Afghan soil that has resulted in loss of lives and injuries on the Pakistani side. He further added that Pakistan had shared details of the operations with the Afghan side indicating that these operations were on the Pakistani side of the border.
Ashraf Ghani, the President of Afghanistan suggested recognition of the Taliban as a real political group in a proposed political process that he said could lead to talks aimed at ending more than 16 years of war. In return, Taliban would have to recognize the Afghan government and follow are the rules of the state including those related to women rights and international partners.
