Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time which helped put Sega on the map and established the Genesis as a legitimate gaming console for serious gaming! For every child growing up in the 1990’s, Sonic and Sega played an instrumental role in their daily life. However, even sonic fans did not ask for this! Apparently, a feature film featuring our favorite blue hedgehog is on its way!

Rumors about a Sonic movie date all the way back to 2014 when Sony was signed to produce the film alongside Marza Animation Planet, a Japanese animation company. Whilst Marza still remains on the project, Paramount has replaced Sony Pictures Entertainment. The pre-production seems to be moving forward as well since some prominent Hollywood names are already confirmed. Neal H. Moritza joins as Produces from the Fast and Furious series. Jeff Fowler, who made the Academy Award nominated animated film ‘Gopher Broke’, joins as director along with executive producer Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool!

Who knew that the small blue animal who could do nothing but run would become a hit, change the gaming industry forever, and have a movie of its own?
