Waymo’s self-driving cars achieved a milestone for hitting 4 million miles on public roads, becoming one of the pioneers to nudge the ‘autonomous technology in the real world’.

The first million miles required more than a year and the last three million miles were completed in six months.

The company has recorded more than 20,000 different scenarios that ‘have been modeled at Waymo’s private test facility,’ excluding rare events like “people jumping out of canvas bags or skateboarders lying on their boards.”

However, Waymo has been sending out its self-driving cars without a driver lately and that clearly shows how determined the company is to bring up the futuristic technology in the real world as soon as possible.
