Qatar Airways has superseded Emirates to become world’s number one Airline. Qatar’s flag carrier has been declared World’s Best Airline at the SKYTRAX 2017 World Airline Awards. The results have been concluded from an annual passenger survey conducted from global travellers. Moreover, Qatar Airways enjoyed further success by winning major awards for the World’s Best Business Class, the World’s Best First Class Lounge and as the Best Airline in the Middle East.
This is the fourth time when a Doha-based carrier has won the prestigious Airline of the Year title. It won the title back in 2011, 2012 and 2015.
This award is felicitous for an airline which has been suffering from travel ban imposed by neighbouring states such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Egypt. As these countries announced an air, land and sea blockade of Qatar on allegations of supporting terrorism.
The list of Top Ten Airlines of 2017 are as follows:
Singapore Airlines, placed at 2nd spot, also declared as the Best Airline in Asia. Singapore’s national carrier also received the award for the World’s Best Business Class seat and for having the Best Premium Economy Onboard Catering. However, Emirates won the awards for World’s Best Airline Inflight Entertainment and Best First Class Comfort Amenities.
Some of the other award winning airlines are:
Garuda Indonesia: defended its prestigious title as the World’s Best Cabin Staff.
EVA Air: Taiwanese International Airline has the world’s cleanest aircraft cabin.
Thai Airways: named as the World’s Best Airline in terms of Economy Class.
Bangkok Airways: Best Regional Airline.
Lufthansa: Best Airline in Europe.
