A couple of weeks ago, Xiaomi rolled out the beta version of Android Oreo to selected Mi A1 handsets. The update included all the usual features from the latest update. However, it also brought an unexpected feature: fast charging.
The feature was recently spotted by the folks at TelecomTalk, who tested the update on Xiaomi’s first Android One handset. They got the Mi A1’s battery up to 100% in just 92 minutes, decreasing the current charging time by 30 minutes. The test was performed using OnePlus’ Dash Charger instead of the one the handset comes with.
A lot of Xiaomi handsets don’t have the support of Qualcomm’s Quick Charge, though they have the required hardware. The reason might be that the maker doesn’t usually pay the license fee needed to use the technology, which has now apparently changed with the Mi A1.
Enabling fast charging will prove to be a great news will current owners of the smartphone as they have found a better deal on an affordable smartphone.
